EMPTYiNG the MIND BANK

A few things buzzing through my mind today...
1. When quietly watching Weird Science the other day, it dawned on me that despite the film being released in 1985; Kelly LeBrock - the female lead - seem to have been styled by the boys and girls of Spring/ Summer 2009!.... In other words, this one random film seems to be full of spookily similar 'looks' to many of the hot designers that have permeated my (and doubtless your) brain recently.....

To explain my geekish theory further: my thoughts went thus...
'Gosh. Doesn't that amazing tassled leather/ suede/ denium jacket, studded gloves, Stephen Sprouse+Marc Jacobs style croptop combo feel very... now? Very.. Wang Givenchy-ish?'

Wang s/s09, Wang resort, Givenchy s/s09

And 'HA! I'm sure I've seen a studded jacket and shoes like those before...

Maybe on a certain stylish but ubiquitous supermodel...'
Erin Wasson.

'And this too?.... O you're kidding me... Was this film the epi-centre of Alexander Wang's S/S 09 collection?!'
Alexander Wang s/s09
And finally ..... 'Ms LeBrock is wearing the exact same shirt as Chloe Sevigny in a very recent photo.'
If a forged kidnapping was to happen with LeBrock, this photo could actually be used as evidence of her situation: who needs a newspaper showing todays date!?.. Ingoring the fact that her youth in the picture would probably look somewhat out of date [..Sorry, the mind does wander...]
Chloe Sevigny [right]
Aside from being a veritable feast of 80s looks, and seemingly responsible for todays biker vibe, it's tackily funny & brilliantly odd... Watch Weird Science.

2. Erin Wasson's predictably New York-stylish apartment is punctuated with un-predictably grotesque, homemade, Disney-style heads. Marvelous! I do love to be surprised.

3. BABETTE PAUTHIER. Gorgeous Photography.

4. It's just coming to a head: my realisation of how much I actually enjoy looking at pink/ coral/ peach. Particularly when punctuated by an accent colour... like orange/ nude/ blue/ grey....
i recently bought some incredible fabrics in coral and nude I'm just contemplating the perfect use for them.... Something simple, something ANDROGYNOUS, something fitted... Something sHIRTY..
